Project Overview

Ribway served as the prime consultant for the extension of a 30-inch diameter sewer along Big Run South Road from Alkire Road to I-270. This project included design and construction administration to accommodate significant engineering and logistical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Study Phase:

  • Defined the tributary area and calculated design flows.
  • Sized the sewer and evaluated alternate alignments.
  • Delivered a comprehensive design report summarizing findings and recommendations.

Design Phase:

  • Prepared detailed plans and specifications
  • Coordinated subsurface investigations and surveys.
  • Prepared approximately 30 easement plats and legal descriptions.
  • Prepared maintenance of traffic plans and coordinated with Franklin County and ODOT.

Construction Administration:

  • Attended preconstruction conference and reviewed shop drawings.
  • Responded to contractor inquiries and provided clarifications.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Tunnel Installation: Successfully designed and monitored the installation of a 425-foot-long, 60-inch tunnel beneath the I-270 Limited Access Highway and depths of sewer averaging approximately 22 feet.
  • Roadway Reconstruction: Reconstructed sections of Big Run South Road, including 2,000 feet of shoulder, ditches, and culvert improvements.
