MAD 40-6.64 L/R Bridge Rehabilitation Over Deer Creek

This Level 1 Bridge project involved the rehabilitation of two, 133-foot long bridges along Route 40, a major collector. The scope of work for the left bridge included replacement of the complete superstructure including deck, steel beams, bearings and back walls, and conversion of the abutments to semi-integral. The scope of work for the right bridge included replacement of the existing asphalt overlay and abutment expansion joints, as well as patching of the substructure. ODOT’s PDP was utilized in delivering the project’s design. The design effort included survey, geotechnical investigations, bridge type study, preparation of Stage 1, 2 and 3 Plans and cost estimates. A Design Exception was prepared for shoulder widths as widening of the bridge would have been very costly. MOT Plans were also prepared for closure of each bridge and use of temporary crossovers. Construction was completed in summer of 2019.
