Duties and Responsibilities

Ribway is currently initiating a search for a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water Resources Team. This candidate shall:

  • Provide subject matter technical support and leadership for water and wastewater projects including water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection systems, storm water collection systems, and pumping stations in the public and private sector.
  • Perform research, planning, concept development, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects including creating construction documents, specifications, and overseeing construction oversight/administration.
  • Provide situational guidance to junior engineers ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, soundness, and functionality.
  • Plan, organize and supervise engineering activities on water and wastewater related projects including managing budgets, deliverables, and schedules.
  • Represent projects and the firm at meetings and conferences.
  • Assure that engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost engineering/control, quality control and project objectives.
  • Provide innovative solutions related to the design of water and wastewater infrastructure for local and state municipalities.
  • Solve project problems in a team environment, particularly where project issues and challenges are significantly affected by proposed solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and sub-consultants.
  • Maintain and continue to develop the firm’s reputation for technical excellence in water and wastewater engineering.
  • Assist in the management, growth, and development of the company’s water and wastewater group.
  • Participate in client development activities including assessing client opportunities, preparing technical concepts for proposals, and making presentations.
  • Make recommendations on project staffing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline (Master’s Degree is a plus).
  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior water/wastewater design experience.
  • Professional Engineer license required in the State of Ohio (multi-state a plus).
  • Highly proficient with water/wastewater design engineering principles, practices, processes, and their applications to project related issues.
  • Extensive experience in water treatment plant, water pumping and distribution systems, wastewater treatment plant, or wastewater collection and pumping systems, planning, design, and program/construction management; including project involvement in upgrades, rehabilitation/reconstruction, new design, and construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant water or wastewater codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, and statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Salary/Compensation

  • Full Time – $100,000 to $140,000 per year with bonuses.
