Bay View WWTP Wet Weather Treatment Facility Grit Removal Facility

Ribway was selected by the City of Toledo as the prime design and construction management consultant for this new 232 mgd screen and grit removal facility. The facility consists of two (2) mechanically cleaned fine screens; six (6) 39mgd capacity 20-foot diameter by 25- foot deep vortex type grit tanks; two (2) 350gpm grit washer/classifier units; nine (9) grit transfer pumps; a screenings and grit disposal system with 16.0 cubic yards roll-off type containers and a 26,000 cfm odor control unit. The process equipment is contained within a 19,000+/- square foot concrete two-story building enclosure. The yard piping includes three (3) prestressed concrete force mains ranging in size from 42 for 72-inch in diameter and approximately 2,000 feet long. The GRF is designed to remove screenings and heavier inorganic material ahead of the more sensitive ballasted flocculation process. Dewatered screenings and grit is transferred to roll-off containers and hauled to the landfill for final disposal. The facility is fully automated and designed for intermittent operation.
